I have been a lifelong Holmes fan since reading the original stories aged twelve. In 2005 I made the semifinals of the ABC television quiz show The Einstein Factor with the Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle as my special subject. I think Jeremy Brett is the television Holmes nonpareil, I collect old books and antiques, and am a strong advocate of the use of graphic novels to encourage reading. I was born in Yorkshire, but have lived in Australia since 1970. I have been a librarian since 1996, and currently work in a small technical college library in Albany, Western Australia.
